Job Specifications:
- Maintain and repair dies.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates
- Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
- Interact closely with the maintenance department to ensure effective communication
- Participate in problem solving activities to remedy situations
- Undertake special projects/activities as required
- Apply basic knowledge of SAP to look for spare parts and enter hours of work daily
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures with respect to safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Must be a 3rd Year Tool & Die Apprentice in good academic standing
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the essential requirements of the work
- Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in the use of a computer suite or software for business communications (i.e., Microsoft Office or comparable)
- Current and/or previous Press Shop experience is preferred
- Applicants must be able to work any shift, as well as overtime
- Applicants must be able to attend school in block format within a one (1) hour drive of Brose
Rate of Pay: The apprentice’s hourly rate is a percentage of the Tradesperson starting salary, increasing in percentage each year for the duration of the apprenticeship. Current 3rd year rate is $36.58/hour
