The Exploits Valley YMCA is seeking an energetic, dependable, and hands-on individual to join our team this summer as a facilities and maintenance assistant. This position will support the facilities and maintenance manager in helping maintain safe, clean, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for the residents of our housing program, our members program participants, staff, and visitors.
This is a great opportunity for a student interested in facilities operations, trades, recreation, community services, or hands-on work experience.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the facilities and maintenance manager, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with general building maintenance and upkeep with our housing program and across all Exploits Valley YMCA facilities.
- Supporting cleaning and facility presentation standards.
- Assisting with minor repairs, painting, and maintenance projects.
- Helping with outdoor maintenance and groundskeeping.
- Setting up and taking down rooms/equipment for programs and events.
- Monitoring supplies and assisting with inventory organization.
- Supporting health, safety, and risk management procedures.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Comfortable performing physical tasks and lifting equipment/materials as needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Previous maintenance, custodial, landscaping, or labour experience is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
