The Loader/Swamper labour-intensive and is responsible for unloading and loading trucks, as well as accompanying drivers to job sites to assist in the unloading of finished products. The position is responsible for following safe practices at all times when loading or unloading.
Dock Loading
- Following the loading sheets and finding the materials in the yard to load (with assistance in the yard if needed to move materials).
- Moving carts within the shipping/loading bay from production.
Swamper
- Providing assistance to the Drivers:
- When backing out of treacherous locations.
- With best routes on sites to be able to deliver the product safely.
- Reminding the drivers to call ahead or assisting as needed.
- In the loading and unloading of the product safely in shipping bays and at job sites.
- Checking to ensure that the load is securely strapped and safely stowed prior to going on the road.
- Inspecting products and glass that are unloaded to ensure no defects or damage and work with the Service Manager where there are concerns.
Other related duties as required
- Folding and organizing the blankets that cover and protect the products.
- Keeping the work area tidy and clean.
- Driving 5-tonne vehicle (no airbrakes) if needed to pick up doors that are stored at Plant 2 to bring back to Plant 1 (if licensed and cleared to do so).
- Supporting and participating in Employee Engagement activities.
Wage is $19.22 - $25.90
