Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight across long distances, ensuring timely and safe delivery while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles to transport goods over long distances, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding route changes or delays.
- Load and unload freight as necessary, utilizing forklifts or other heavy equipment when required.
- Ensure that cargo is secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all federal and state driving regulations, including hours of service requirements.
Skills
- Proficient in commercial driving, with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Experience in freight transportation and logistics management.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation for loading and unloading cargo safely.
- Basic understanding of automotive repair to perform minor repairs or troubleshooting on the road.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently when handling freight.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively while on the road.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, clients, and team members.
