Gutmann North America is seeking a Curtain Wall Design Drafter to join our Pre-Construction team in Oakville. This role offers the opportunity to work on architecturally challenging projects across North America while developing technical expertise in custom curtain wall and facade systems.
Working alongside senior designers, engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams, you will contribute to projects from early design development through fabrication and installation. Candidates with strong initiative, technical curiosity, and a desire to grow will find a clear path for advancement within the organization.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the design and development of curtain wall and facade systems for commercial, institutional, mixed-use, and high-rise projects.
- Produce design drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly manuals, and installation documentation.
- Support project teams throughout the full project lifecycle, including design assist, value engineering, testing, fabrication, and installation.
- Develop 3D models and perform clash detection to identify and resolve coordination issues.
- Coordinate hardware integration and system validation requirements.
- Work closely with senior designers, engineering, estimating, project management, and fabrication teams to deliver coordinated technical solutions.
- Participate in mockup development, certification testing, and product validation activities.
- Own and contribute to the maintenance and development of Gutmann North America's product libraries and technical standards.
- Assist in resolving detailing, constructability, and technical design challenges.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on North American curtain wall or facade system design experience.
- Understanding of curtain wall project lifecycles from design development through fabrication and installation.
- Experience with unitized and/or stick-built curtain wall systems.
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency.
- Autodesk Inventor experience a plus.
- Experience producing technical drawings and fabrication documentation.
- Familiarity with clash detection, hardware integration, and system coordination.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated with a desire to develop into a senior technical design role.
Applicants without unitized curtain wall experience in North American will not be considered.
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
