Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher to provide high-quality instruction to students in Grades 3–12. The successful candidate will teach mathematics based on the Ontario curriculum, help students build strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and prepare students for school assessments, contests, and standardized tests. The ideal candidate is passionate about mathematics, enjoys working with students of different ages and abilities, and is committed to helping every student succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 3–12.
- Teach topics including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, ratios, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics, probability, functions, and advanced mathematics appropriate to each grade level.
- Prepare students for classroom assessments, EQAO (Grades 3, 6, and 9), and mathematics competitions when applicable.
- Assess students' learning needs and develop individualized learning plans.
- Monitor student progress through quizzes, assignments, and regular assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents.
- Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Develop lesson plans, worksheets, homework assignments, and enrichment materials.
- Encourage logical reasoning, mathematical communication, and problem-solving strategies.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records.
- Collaborate with other instructors and management to improve academic programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) is an asset but not required.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience with students in Grades 3–12.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching advanced mathematics, including Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Data Management.
- Experience preparing students for EQAO, Waterloo Mathematics Contests (Gauss, Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, Euclid), or other enrichment programs.
- Experience working in tutoring centres or after-school academic programs.
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms and educational technology.
