Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Baker to join our food production team. This role involves supporting the bakery operations by assisting in food preparation, packaging, and maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food processing and manufacturing, with a keen eye for detail to ensure quality products are delivered consistently. Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing bakery products according to established recipes and procedures
- Support the packaging of baked goods efficiently and accurately to meet production quotas
- Operate basic manufacturing equipment, when trained and certified
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas following food safety standards
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and products to ensure quality control
- Support food processing activities by monitoring product consistency and safety compliance
- Follow all safety protocols related to machinery operation, sanitation, and food handling
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience or familiarity with the food industry, manufacturing, or food processing is required.
- Basic math skills for measurements, portioning, and inventory tracking
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for operating equipment is a plus (training provided)
- Strong understanding of sanitation practices and food safety regulations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform manual tasks safely
- Able to work independently and in a team setting
- Current Food Safe Level 1 certification in British Columbia
- Post Secondary Baking or Culinary Program minimum 1 year either currently enrolled or past history of successful participation in a program
