The Opportunity
Rocky View Schools is seeking a 1st to 4th-year apprentice for a continuing, full-time position (40 hrs/wk) as an Apprentice Plumber/Gas Fitter, starting immediately. The Apprentice Plumber/Gas Fitter, under the supervision of the Journeyperson Plumber/Gas Fitter, will be responsible for repairs, servicing, and maintaining all plumbing and gas fittings for Rocky View Schools' (RVS) facilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of all materials relating to the plumbing trade and seeks out information on
new materials that may be appropriate for use in school buildings
- Procures materials in a cost-effective manner.
- Provides input on new construction/renovation plans as requested
- Completes all maintenance, new construction and renovation tasks as it pertains to the plumbing
infrastructure within the division
- Demonstrates and models a genuine appreciation for, and understanding of, protocol, discretion,
and professionalism in RVS
- Safely climbs ladder, scaffolds, operates man lifts and handles
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with boilers, sewers, waterlines, fixtures, water storage, septic fields, lift
stations and lagoons
- Back-flow prevention certification is considered an asset
- Confined space certification is considered an asset
- Previous experience with a school division or public sector employer is considered an asset
- An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered

Pre-Employment Requirements
- The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment
- Proof of qualifications/education as required by the position
- Valid Alberta Motor Vehicle License – Class 5 as travel will be required to various work sites on an ongoing basis.
