The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, and with HR support from our head office operations in the USA, the HR Generalist is responsible for supporting Canadian staff and supervisors in areas such as recruitment and selection, health and safety, employee relations, leadership support, full-cycle payroll, group benefits administration, employee compensation and various administrative and legislative activities related to day to day human resources management.
The HR Generalist will provide support to all Canadian staff and will work from our beautiful new building in Waterdown, Ontario.

Responsibilities
- With support and resources from Head Office in the USA, manage the delivery of HR services, and the implementation and administration of company HR programs and initiatives for Canadian operations.
- Promote a high-performance culture and respectful, values-based work environment that attracts, retains, and inspires continued development and individual growth.
- Provide leadership and operational support to the following activities and programs: recruitment and selection, health and safety, employee relations, leadership support, employee leaves and return to work, full-cycle payroll, group benefits programs, employee compensation, HR policies and procedures, time and attendance, and other related programs.
- Consistently apply appropriate judgment and discretion in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential information.
- Identify and facilitate training, educational programs, and events that encourage and enhance teams.
- Operational and employee event-planning and execution.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years progressive HR experience working with a manufacturing or related industrial sector employer in Ontario required.
- A University degree or College diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent required; achievement of or working towards a suitable HR certificate is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience processing full-cycle payroll in Ontario, preferably using the Dayforce Powerpay system.
- Joint health and safety committee training/certificate and experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trusting relations with managers and staff.
- Able to make sound business decisions and evidence-based recommendations to senior management.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices required.
