We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality service to our clients.
Please note: This position is fully onsite, and remote work is not available.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit and Review Engagements: Independently work on and complete audit and review engagement files. Perform assurance work, including more than 500 audit assurance hours annually. Must have strong understanding of assurance procedures and audit assertions (and GAAS) and be capable of designing procedures to address engagement risks. Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles including Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNFPO).
Compilation Engagements: Independently execute and complete a variety of compilation engagements, including planning, working papers, reconciliations, adjusting entries, financial information statements, letters, checklists, documentation, referencing, completion, and file closure.
Tax returns: Prepare various personal tax returns, goods and sales tax returns, partnership tax returns, corporate tax returns, trust tax returns, non-profit organization, and charitable tax returns. Tax return preparation can also include supplemental tax filings for foreign property and information on foreign affiliates.
Tax Slips: Preparation of tax slips including T3s, T4s, T4As, T5s, T1135, T1134 and T5018s.
Account Reconciliations: Prepare various account reconciliations including corporate/provincial tax installments, GST, payroll and source deductions, and shareholders’ loan accounts.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial information in CaseWare and prepare adjusting entries.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Certification: Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
Experience: 3-5 years of work experience in public accounting. Taxation and assurance. Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and audit processes. Minimum of 500 hours of completed audit assurance work.
Technical Skills: High proficiency in CaseWare, Jazz.it, Profile or other tax preparation software, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Extensive knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other relevant platforms
Communication: Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Problem-Solving: Ability to detect and solve problems with sound judgment regarding confidential information and sensitive matters.
Professionalism: Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Client Focus: Understanding of a client-focused, fast-paced work environment, including related deadlines and the ability to consistently meet those deadlines. Maintain strong technical tax knowledge while balancing assurance and tax workloads.
Time Management: Perform assurance work, and prepare compilation engagements and manage 450+ T1 and various T3 returns during peak season March–April
Adaptability: Ability to accept and apply feedback to future engagements.
