The opportunity
We are seeking a permanent Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson to join our Operations Department. Our electricians install commercial and utility-scale solar, battery, microgrid, and wind systems across Yukon, Northwest Territories (NWT), and Nunavut. You will work closely with construction teams to install, commission, and maintain electrical systems in remote and northern communities.
Position details
- Employment status: Permanent full-time, 40 hours per week with frequent overtime during peak times.
- Typical schedule: Seasonal full-time shift work, often in out-of-town rotations (commonly 2-week rotations).
- Work locations: Remote communities across Northern Canada; travel and extended stays required.
Key responsibilities
- Perform all electrical work in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable OHS regulations.
- Install, troubleshoot, and commission renewable energy systems (solar PV, battery storage, microgrids, wind) at commercial and utility scales.
- Mentor, train, and supervise electrical apprentices and installation teams.
- Read, interpret, and work from electrical drawings and schematics.
- Diagnose and repair grid-tied and off-grid system faults; ensure system performance and safety.
- Complete commissioning tasks including online monitoring setup, QA/QC checks, and client education.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe worksites; wear required PPE at all times.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, contractors, and community members.
- Report progress and notify the Electrical Superintendent of delays or issues impacting schedule.

Required qualifications
- Certified Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson.
- Proven commercial electrical experience.
- Experience working on energized equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong people skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to provide consistent, high-quality service and to prioritize multiple demands.
- Experience mentoring apprentices and leading small teams.
- Previous solar or renewables experience is an asset.
Additional requirements
- Willingness to work at heights (Fall Arrest Training provided).
- Willingness to travel and work in communities within and outside Yukon for extended rotations.
- Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years’ driving experience.
- Must wear required PPE.
- Successful Criminal Record Check.
Pay: $40.00-$52.00 per hour
