We are looking for a hands-on, Environment Health And Safety Coordinator who thrives in the field. If you love being on the move, working directly with crews, and ensuring operational excellence on the ground, this is the role for you.
Position Overview
This is not a desk job. Operating directly on the front lines, you will spend your week traveling to active drilling surface / underground sites to conduct weekly visits, audit compliance, ensure pristine site cleanliness, and oversee field quality control mostly across Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
In this role, you will work directly under the Health & Safety (H&S) Manager, acting as their eyes and ears in the field to bridge the gap between safety strategy and making sure proper Safety procedures are being followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Weekly Site Visits: Travel consistently to various active sites to review operations and support field crews.
- On-Site Safety Compliance: Ensure all provincial regulations, client specifications, and Rodren safety policies are strictly followed on the ground.
- Rig Rigor & Cleanliness: Inspect job sites to ensure high standards of housekeeping, organization, and hazard mitigation.
- Quality Control: Work alongside field leadership to monitor and maintain operational quality standards, ensuring equipment and processes meet project specifications.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Work under the direction of the H&S Manager to implement safety initiatives, communicate field insights, and escalate critical data.
- Crew Engagement: Conduct on-site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and provide mentorship to Foreman’s, Drillers and Helpers to foster a proactive safety culture.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2–3 years of direct safety field experience in exploration drilling, mining, heavy civil construction, or a related industrial environment, with a strong focus on field safety protocols and implementation.
- Travel: 100% willing and able to travel frequently to remote or regional job sites on a weekly basis.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations (Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act/Regulations; mining/exploration-specific knowledge is a major asset).
- Skills: Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills, you know how to build trust with field crews while maintaining high accountability.
- Credentials: Clean criminal Record check. Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract (required for regular travel). Safety certifications (e.g., CSO, HSA, or NCSO designation) are highly preferred.
- Software: Experience with SiteDocs and excel is a major asset. You should be comfortable using mobile apps/tablets for safety tracking and willing to learn our digital systems
