Description: Analysis of English phrases, clauses and sentences up to discourse level in connected text. Emphasis on distinguishing between grammatical form, meaning, and function. Identification, analysis and correction of common errors made by ESL learners.
This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1. Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics or related area in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered.
2. Teaching degree or equivalent in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
3. PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience:
1. Expert knowledge of course content as represented in current eCalendar description including:
2. Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP), including the ESL specific sections.
3. Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
4. Experience teaching ESL in the Quebec elementary/secondary French school system
5. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
Other:
1. Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
2. Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
3. Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
4. Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
5. Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
6. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
