At Shouldice Hospital, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a wide range of building, equipment, and grounds maintenance tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility and grounds. This role supports the Hospital's infrastructure through preventive maintenance, repairs, and collaboration with contractors, while also maintaining outdoor areas year-round.
Responsibilities:
· Perform general repairs and maintenance on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC.
· Conduct drywall repairs, painting, and carpentry work as needed.
· Carry out routine preventive maintenance on Hospital infrastructure such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
· Maintain and service rooftop HVAC units, including working at heights.
· Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
· Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors as required.
· Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
· Perform landscape maintenance including lawn care, gardening (hedges, flowers, etc.), raking, and leaf cleanup.
· Conduct snow removal and salting during winter months (on-call rotation required; snow plowing experience considered an asset).
· Operate and maintain yard equipment and power tools.
Skills:
· Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
· Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and yard maintenance equipment.
· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
· Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
· Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
Education, Training & Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· Skilled Trade Certificate or AEC/DEP preferred.
· Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in building and property maintenance.
· Valid Ontario driver’s license.
