Job Summary
We are a small firm in Northern Ontario practicing mainly in the areas of family and child protection law. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to article with our firm.
Both Canadian law school graduates and international law school graduates are encouraged to apply. Relocation to Timmins, Ontario is required.
Our firm offers articling students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in all aspects of practicing family and child protection law in Northeastern Ontario.
Student responsibilities will include:
- Drafting court pleadings, correspondence, and other necessary court documents.
- Appearing before the Courts (OCJ and SCJ) to address uncontested matters.
- Communicating and meeting with clients.
- Communicating with opposing counsel and/or unrepresented litigants.
- Managing client relationships, including drafting legal advice for counsel and regular client communications.
- Conducting legal research and writing legal memorandums.
- Other legal and administrative assistance as required.
Minimum Academic Requirements:
- Law Degree (JD or LLB) from an accredited Canadian Law School with a minimum overall average of B-.
- Law Degree (JD or LLB) from an accredited United Kingdom Law School with a minimum degree classification of Second Class (Upper);
- A Law Degree from any another common law jurisdiction with academic achievement equivalent to either of the above.
Applicants who obtained their law degree outside of Canada must also provide an NCA Certificate of Qualification. Pay: $25.75 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
