We are looking for someone to add extra support in our Preschool classroom. Enhanced program support staff are required to work in partnership with the program team to support the inclusion and needs of all children. We are looking for someone who is able to respect and work within the structure of the child care setting, but who is also able to support our team to implement new strategies to ensure all children are able to be active participants in the classroom.
This position will require the individual to work collaboratively with the program staff to engage the children in small and large group activities, support transitions, assist with self-care tasks (handwashing, dressing, toileting), assist with snack/meal routines, and document children's goals and progress. Enhanced Program Support Staff will also need to be flexible and responsive to offer support during escalated situations. Should any children require 1-1 support, this is to be a shared responsibility between the program staff and Enhanced Program Support staff.
Hours: 9:30am to 12:30pm, Monday-Friday
Contract Length: ASAP-August 31, 2026
Recommended qualifications (any of the following):
-Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth, Educational Assistant, Developmental Support, or Recreation and Leisure
-Experience working with children with differing abilities, diagnoses, or special needs
Requirements:
- Standard first aid and CPR level C
- Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- TB Test (completed within the last 6 months)
The EPS position is a short-term position that is tied to provincial funding, and as such, the end date may vary slightly depending on the needs of the centre and funding availability. Pursuant to the end of the contract, additional employment opportunities may be offered on a more long-term basis if an additional role is available.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
