Position Title: Operations Supervisor
Location: 1 – The Canadian Road, Oakville, ON L6H 1A7
Shift: Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 2:30PM, weekends, holidays, potential for daily overtime and additional time as needed
Status: Full time Permanent

Pay Rate: $32.00 per hour

AWC Operations Canada, ULC (AWCC) performs many logistics functions. Some of these are real time yard management, real time data transfers, real time vehicle direct locating, dealer delivery, import / export preparations, rail car preparation and switching, rail car loading and unloading, and extensive assembly plant operations.
Summary of Position:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly production employees in a safe, productive, and efficient manner, following the collective bargaining agreement, and all applicable provincial legislation.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Tasks:
Supervisory

Backup to the Terminal Manager

Organize the daily work schedules

Direct the day-to-day activities of the operation

Ensure associates have the support, tools, and supplies needed to perform their job tasks

Conduct audits and inspections e.g., safety, quality
-
Investigate all incidents, workplace injury/illness and accidents, gather details, and report through the company's database. Take appropriate corrective action as necessary
-
Oversee special vehicle moves, diversions, repairs and maintain ongoing communication with plant
- Organize large campaigns for plant returns, special yard moves, record the same and complete all necessary paperwork

Monitor associate performance, provide coaching, record coaching, and initiate corrective action when appropriate
Dispatch

Perform a daily inventory count of vehicles in the yard

Prepare worksheets for current shift and agenda for railways

Order rail equipment in conjunction with the number of loads to be shipped

Input the information from the travelers into the computer system
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of the vehicle information

Prepare railcar numbers, counts and overflow counts
-
Place railcar seals at splits of loaded railcars and record and enter seal data

Inspect and sign off on damages reported by carriers

Make up truck loads from truck carriers and ship once moved

Coordinate the yard crew for loading and unloading of vehicles from the railcars, car and truck haulers; verify that the loads are correct

Confirm the truck loads from the main security gate are correctly dispatched
-
Check to see that aged vehicles are identified and pulled forward to be included in the loads; keep a record of the old dates

Track down any lost vehicles and investigate mis-shipped units; interface with outside parties in resolving these situations when they arise in a timely manner

Release truck loads when they leave the compound by entering the appropriate information into the computer system

Work with railways to pull and spot railcars

Work with customer on holds and repairs

Prepare daily on-hand and shipped counts, morning and closing reports

Respond to telephone, e-mail and in-person inquiries from internal and external contacts

Education, Experience, and Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of vocational/college education in relevant area of study

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel and Outlook)

Ability to learn and adapt to new computer and software systems
-
Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
-
Valid G driver's license with an acceptable driving record
-
Active Standard First Aid CPR A + AED
-
Successful criminal record check required
-
Successful third party pre-employment medical assessment
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed indoors in an office setting and outside in the yard with exposure to all types of weather conditions year-round

Standing, walking and sitting is required
