We are looking for hydrogeological field technicians to support senior hydrogeologists/ project managers in conducting fieldwork and assist in the preparation of hydrogeological assessment reports for a wide range of hydrogeological assessment projects. Soil Engineers Ltd. will provide required technical and health and safety trainings for the selected candidates.
JOB DUTIES:
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Supervising borehole drilling, soil sampling, and monitoring well installation.
- Conducting fieldwork, including monitoring well development, groundwater level measurement and surface water flow measurement, groundwater and surface water sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, in-situ percolation testing, monitoring well decommissioning, and baseline hydrogeological assessments for private wells.
- Communicating with clients and their consultants to coordinate fieldwork.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge in hydrogeology, geology; training in geology/earth sciences/environmental/ water resources technologist or technician program; background in general construction practices would be an advantage.
- Excellent organization and written and oral communication skills; the selected candidate will be dealing with inter-office personnel, clients, contractors, and other institutions.
- Proficiency in dealing with people; this position requires working with private well owners to participate in long-term monitoring and in coordinating work with subcontractors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Fieldwork is an integral component of this position; the candidate must have access to a reliable vehicle for work and is willing to travel to various job sites throughout Ontario. Mileage will be reimbursed.
