As Head Custodian, you lead a team of cleaning specialists who “Take Care of Banff” by ensuring the Town’s indoor amenities are as pristine as the landscape around us. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to safety reflects a passion for a flawless experience for visitors, residents and colleagues.
You participate in and lead the training and workplace support of employees who deliver custodial services in publicly accessible locations and facilities owned and operated by the Town of Banff. You are able to blend your expertise in time management, inventory, purchasing, operational cleaning duties, and scheduling while ensuring the team is set up for success each day.
You are the person who notices a spot on the mirror, a mark on the floor and cannot tolerate the dust bunnies behind the cabinet. You are motivated by the “before and after” appearance and instill pride in your colleagues by demonstrating that a safe, clean and well-stocked and welcoming public space can enhance an experience. You have a reputation as a happy and helpful person, who blends frontline service delivery with the internal heart of the operation.
As Head Custodian you perform and coordinate delivery of daily custodial services ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness and safety. Your work experience includes leading teams within Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS programs combined with knowledge of custodial and housekeeping practices. You can meet the daily physical and cognitive demands of the position and adapt processes and duties according to business volume demands and Mother Nature’s unpredictability. Over the years, you have acquired some basic knowledge of plumbing and carpentry to triage maintenance issues.
The Facilities department operates 17 hour per day and 7 days per week and schedules are varied according to business volumes. This allows many opportunities to work in peak periods and enjoy personal time when our community is quieter.
