Overview
The Controller is at the heart of our business, owning everything finance related from daily accounting tasks to big picture financial reporting. As the sole accounting team member, the Controller keeps our financial engine running smoothly by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, cash flow, month-end reporting, and everything in between.
This is a hands-on position requiring a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable managing both the daily accounting activities and the company's overall financial health.

What You’ll Do
Accounts Receivable
- Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, payment processing, collections, and overdue account management
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, including short shipment claims, non-compliance chargebacks, pricing issues, and fraud-related concerns
- Manage customer RMA requests, credits, and account adjustments
- Reconcile customer accounts and prepare AR aging reports
Accounts Payable
- Manage the accounts payable process, including vendor invoice verification, bill entry, payment processing, and vendor statement reconciliations
- Maintain vendor records and resolve payment discrepancies
- Prepare and remit HST/GST, WSIB, and other government remittances
Payroll
- Manage the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll
- Prepare and remit payroll deductions, benefits, WSIB, and other statutory payments.
- Maintain payroll records and reconcile payroll-related accounts
- Complete payroll reporting, including year-end requirements such as T4s
- Manage the employee benefit program, including enrollments, updates, and reconciliation of benefit-related expenses
Banking & Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Reconcile corporate credit card statements
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account balances, analyzing variances, and ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Manage foreign exchange transactions, including currency conversions, FX reconciliations, and multi-currency adjustment
- Monitor cash balances and support cash flow planning
Financial Management
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitor performance against plan, analyze variances, and provide recommendations
- Prepare accurate financial statements and reporting, including budget-to-actual analysis, sales reports, customer reporting, product performance, and KPI dashboards.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet accounts through reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial data review
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial health while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and controls
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial matters and provide insights to support business decisions
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Process and maintain landed costs for inventory to ensure accurate product costing.
- Review promotional performance and provide insights on profitability, sales impact
- Support inventory reconciliation processes and investigate variances
Operations & Business Support
- Support day-to-day business operations by providing financial information and analysis to various departments
- Support order processing and operational workflows
- Manage company insurance policies, renewals, and related documentation.
- Ensure company compliance with product safety, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Support business projects and initiatives requiring financial analysis

What You Bring
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong experience in full-cycle accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- A proactive mindset with the ability to balance daily priorities while supporting long-term improvements
