Position Summary
Courtyard by Marriott is seeking a friendly, dependable, and service-oriented individual to join our team in a combined Front Desk Agent / Bell person position.
As one of the first and last points of contact for our guests, you will help create a welcoming and memorable hotel experience. This position combines front desk responsibilities with bell services, lobby support, and assistance with the setup and teardown of function rooms. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems, and providing personalized service in accordance with Marriott brand standards.
Schedule and Availability
This is a part-time position, typically offering 24–32 hours per week, depending on occupancy and business needs. Additional hours may be available during peak periods.
Candidates must have flexible availability for:
- Eight-hour shifts
- Morning, evening, and overnight shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
Regular weekend availability is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Front Desk and Guest Services
- Welcome guests warmly and provide professional, personalized service.
- Check guests in and out using Marriott systems and established brand procedures.
- Process payments, prepare accurate guest accounts, and resolve billing concerns.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to guest inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Provide information about hotel services, amenities, transportation, and local attractions.
- Handle guest concerns and complaints calmly, efficiently, and with appropriate follow-up.
- Promote the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and assist with enrollments and account inquiries.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments to address guest requests.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of the front desk and lobby.
Bell and Operational Services
- Welcome arriving and departing guests and assist them with luggage when required.
- Escort or direct guests to their rooms and explain hotel amenities and services.
- Assist with transportation inquiries, directions, and the handling or storage of luggage.
- Maintain lobby, entrance, luggage-storage, and bell-service areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of function and meeting rooms, including moving tables, chairs, and other equipment.
- Respond promptly to guest deliveries and other service requests.
- Complete additional operational duties as assigned to support the hotel team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of hotel, front desk, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Previous experience in hotel operations is considered an asset.
- Experience with Marriott systems is an asset.
- Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Friendly, personable, and professional approach to guest service.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn hotel systems.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and overnight shifts as scheduled.
Physical Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Regularly assist with guest luggage.
- Lift and carry items weighing at least 25 pounds.
- Move tables, chairs, and function-room equipment safely.
- Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical duties associated with bell services and room setup.
- Operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, and payment terminals.
