The farm is in its third year of growing organically and will be starting the organic certification process soon. I am looking for help with garden work, greenhouse work, and farmers markets. These tasks are physical and require the ability to lift at least 40lbs.
This job is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs and applicants must be between the ages of 15-30 and Canadian citizens.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general garden maintenance tasks such as planting, bed prep and weeding
- Operate hand tools and power tools to maintain and enhance the garden
- Irrigate plants and ensure proper watering schedules are followed
- Monitor and control pests and diseases in the garden
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the garden area
- Harvest vegetables and fruit
-Perform post harvest cleaning and packing
-Attend Farmers Markets; make attractive and inviting displays, make sales (customer service)
Skills:
- Proficient in using hand tools for gardening tasks
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques and practices
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and watering methods
- Understanding of different types of plants and their care requirements
-Knowledge of vegetables and their uses
-Ability to follow directions
-Ability to work efficiently
