Salary: $90,000-120,000 per annum

About the Role
We’re looking for a Controller to support the accounting and financial reporting functions of Spud. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will contribute substantially to the day-to-day accounting operations, supporting timely and accurate financial reporting, contributing to strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis and advanced Excel modelling.
The ideal candidate has broad experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and is familiar with the Microsoft cloud ecosystem.
The candidate is a collaborative accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support and collaborate with the CFO and other members of the accounting department ensuring accurate and timely completion of all accounting activities and financial reporting.
- Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Contribute significantly while collaborating with the rest of the accounting team to complete month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Contribute to strong internal controls and financial processes to support operational efficiency and audit readiness.
- Support the CFO and other senior executives in dealing with external auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, and shareholders.
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Support business planning initiatives through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
- Monitor working capital, cash flow, and treasury activities to support business objectives.
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to improve reporting accuracy and support business growth.
- Review contracts and agreements from a financial and risk management perspective.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements, including within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Broad experience using to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and is familiar with the Microsoft cloud ecosystem.
- Advanced Excel financial modelling and forecasting experience.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and operational accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels of the company.
