About the Position
Welcome Home Construction is looking for a dependable and versatile Handyperson & Property Services Technician to join our team.
This is a hybrid field position combining handyman/property maintenance work with professional cleaning and property services.
The successful candidate must be comfortable performing both sides of the position.
Work will take place at residential properties, rental properties, commercial locations and construction or renovation sites throughout Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding communities.
Depending on the day, you may be:
- Completing minor repairs in a customer's home.
- Preparing a rental property between occupants or guests.
- Performing construction or renovation cleanup.
- Completing minor deficiencies before a project is turned over.
- Maintaining a commercial or residential property.
- Assisting WHC tradespeople and construction crews.
We are looking for someone who notices what needs attention, takes ownership of their work and leaves properties clean, functional and ready for use.
Key ResponsibilitiesHandyman & Property Maintenance
Responsibilities may include:
- General residential and commercial repairs.
- Minor drywall patching and repairs.
- Interior paint touch-ups.
- Caulking and sealing.
- Minor trim and baseboard repairs.
- Door adjustments and minor repairs.
- Replacing handles, locks and basic hardware.
- Cabinet and drawer adjustments.
- Installing shelving, mirrors, blinds and accessories.
- Furniture assembly.
- Minor flooring repairs.
- Weatherstripping and minor window/screen repairs.
- Minor deck, fence and gate repairs.
- Property maintenance and seasonal maintenance.
- Completing deficiency and repair lists.
- Preparing properties between tenants or guests.
- Picking up or delivering materials and supplies when required.
- Assisting WHC tradespeople and field crews as required.
Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other regulated work requiring a licensed trade will be completed by the appropriate qualified tradesperson.
Cleaning & Property Services
Responsibilities may include:
- Residential and rental property cleaning.
- Short-term rental turnovers.
- Commercial and workplace cleaning.
- Construction and renovation cleanup.
- Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping.
- Cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and living areas.
- Cleaning windows, glass and surfaces.
- Removing construction dust and light debris.
- Changing bedding and completing laundry when required.
- Restocking property and cleaning supplies.
- Preparing completed properties for clients, tenants or guests.
- Identifying visible damage, deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
- Completing minor repairs during property turnovers when appropriate.
- Reporting larger deficiencies to management.
What Makes This Position Different
This is not strictly a cleaning position and not strictly a handyman position.
We are looking for someone who can provide a more complete property service.
For example, during a rental turnover you may clean and prepare the property while also adjusting a sticking door, tightening a cabinet hinge, touching up damaged paint or replacing minor hardware.
At a renovation project, you may help complete the final cleanup while identifying and correcting smaller deficiencies before the client handover.
The right person will be able to recognize what needs attention, determine what they can safely complete and communicate anything requiring additional support.

Preferred Experience
Previous experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Handyman services.
- Residential maintenance.
- Property maintenance.
- Construction or renovations.
- Building maintenance.
- Apartment or rental property turnovers.
- Residential cleaning.
- Commercial cleaning.
- Construction cleaning.
- Short-term rental cleaning or property management.
Candidates do not need experience in every category.
We are open to someone with transferable skills who demonstrates reliability, good judgment, mechanical ability and a willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
This is an active field position.
Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with accommodation where required, which may include:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, kneeling and reaching.
- Carrying tools, equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Lifting and moving typical maintenance and cleaning materials.
- Working from ladders when appropriate and safe.
- Working indoors and outdoors.
- Working in active construction and renovation environments.
- Travelling between multiple properties during the workday.
Transportation
A valid G driver's licence and reliable transportation are required.
The position involves travelling between WHC job sites, customer properties and other locations throughout Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding communities.
The ability to transport basic tools and supplies is an asset.
Work Schedule
The position will include a combination of:
- Handyman service appointments.
- Property maintenance calls.
- Scheduled recurring cleaning.
- Short-term rental turnovers.
- Construction and renovation cleaning.
- Project deficiency work.
- Residential and commercial service calls.
- General WHC field support.
Some scheduled assignments may occur during evenings or weekends depending on customer requirements, rental turnover schedules or project deadlines.
Compensation
$23.00–$30.00 per hour

- Ability to work independently.

- Reliability and demonstrated ability.
There is opportunity for increased responsibility as the property services division grows.
