Senior Mechanical Manager

About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Manager to lead a well-established Mechanical Engineering team delivering a diverse portfolio of building projects across Ontario. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys mentoring engineers, overseeing technical excellence, and driving successful project delivery while remaining involved in complex mechanical design.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop an established team of Mechanical Engineers, Designers, and EITs.
- Oversee the delivery of multiple projects from concept through construction administration.
- Ensure technical excellence by maintaining high QA/QC standards across all project deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, architects, developers, and external consultants throughout all project phases.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on mechanical building systems design.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and client expectations.
- Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Support business development initiatives by fostering strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Conduct occasional site visits to review project progress, resolve technical issues, and support construction teams.
- Promote continuous improvement within the Mechanical department through mentorship, best practices, and technical innovation.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Building Engineering consulting experience.
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.
- Strong background designing HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, and mechanical building systems.
- Extensive experience delivering projects within the Ontario building engineering consulting industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, technical review, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, ASHRAE, CSA, and applicable industry standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally for site visits.
Preferred Experience

Extensive experience designing and managing mechanical systems for multi-storey residential developments, including condominiums and townhouses across Ontario.
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Previous experience mentoring junior engineers and developing high-performing technical teams.
