Preferred Qualifications, Background & Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized Post-Secondary Institution
- Registered member with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Minimum of two (2) years childcare experience
- Previous leadership, mentoring experience and asset
- Strong knowledge of the CCEYA
- EXCELLENT organizational and communication skills
- A calm, collaborative and motivating leadership style
- Experience working with children and their families of all abilities with complex needs
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess excellent verbal & written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required to support a diverse group of staff, along with experience in reflective supervision.
- Knowledge of relevant acts, legislation and frameworks, including but not limited to: Child & Family Services Act, Child Care & Early Years Act & How Does Learning Happen? ELECT Document
- Computer proficiency in MS office, excel; experience with the Ontario Child Care Management System (OCCMS) is preferred
- Up to date immunization and health assessment as per the local Health Requirements
- Current First Aid/CPR Level C Certificate is required
- Current Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector screening
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring that the centre runs smoothly, efficiently & professionally.
- Provide direction & support to a team of front-line staff, engage in reflective supervision & maintain a focus on family-centered practice
- Ensure all Child Care Center actions and activities adhere to our Policies & Procedures, and the Child Care & Early Years Act.
- Maintain Health & Safety Standards, fire safety requirements & MOL
- Participate & support educators with quality initiatives (raising the bar)
- Provide pedagogical direction, align services, and support critical reflection for educators grounded in How Does Learning Happen?
- Support educators in being co-learners and researchers with children, parents & colleagues
- Responsible for collaborating with Management in administrative components of hiring new staff & ensuring staff records are kept up to date
- Network with community agencies & utilize service coordination strategies to address unique needs of families/team
- Collaborate with Management to maintain day to day administrative duties
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
