Position Overview
At our clinic, we believe eye care is more than just a routine visit, it’s a personalized experience built on trust, relationships, and exceptional service. We are looking for a motivated and outgoing individual to join our team, starting as an Optometric Assistant (Pre-Test Technician) and transitioning into a Dispensary Associate role focused on optical sales.
This is a unique opportunity to learn the full patient journey—from clinical care to eyewear styling—within a busy, well-established practice. You’ll begin by building a strong foundation in pre-testing, patient flow, and our EMR system, with the goal of moving into a dispensing role where product knowledge, sales confidence, and patient experience are key.
What You’ll Do
- Support the optometrist with pre-testing, diagnostics, and patient preparation
- Guide patients through their visit, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
- Learn and navigate our EMR system and clinic workflows
- Transition into the dispensary to assist patients with frame selection and lens recommendations
- Educate patients on eyewear options, pricing, and insurance coverage
- Deliver a personalized, high-quality eyewear experience from selection to final fit
- Troubleshoot patient concerns and ensure satisfaction with purchases
- Collaborate with the clinical, administrative, and dispensary teams to maintain efficient patient flow
- Occasionally support pre-testing even after transitioning to dispensing

- Outgoing, confident, and naturally skilled at building rapport with patients
- Comfortable in a sales-driven environment and motivated by helping patients find the right solutions
- Have a strong sense of style and presentation
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting
- A team player who is adaptable and eager to learn multiple areas of the clinic
- Comfortable handling and resolving challenging or unsatisfied patient situations
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience is preferred (optical experience is an asset)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Interest in healthcare and willingness to learn clinical processes
- Experience with eyewear, fashion, or retail is considered a strong asset
Compensation & Schedule
- Starting wage: $20–$21/hour, based on experience
- Opportunity for increase following successful completion of 3-month probation
- Full-time schedule:
- 4 weekdays (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Wednesday hours 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- 1–2 Saturdays/month (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
