Continuing our growth trajectory from startup days, EarthLabs is excited to expand its team and is currently seeking a skilled and reliable Videographer / Studio Production Operator to join us.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Videographer / Studio Production Operator, you will work hands-on in our Toronto studio to set up, operate, and maintain cameras, sound, and lighting equipment during shoots both in the studio and on location. Working closely with the production team and other departments, you will ensure a seamless production experience for both our team and our clients. The ideal candidate is a professional, punctual, and confident individual who works independently and is able to manage multiple shoots or projects per day while maintaining high-quality standards.
This is a Contract role based in Toronto, Ontario.
WE WILL TRUST YOU TO… (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Operate cameras, sound, and lighting equipment during studio and on-site productions.
- Operate both our studios including green screen and podcast rooms.
- Ensure technical quality across all shoots, including clear audio, strong visuals, and proper lighting.
- Maintain and optimize studio equipment, keeping everything in top working condition.
- Update shoot status using our booking calendar, Slack, and Trello.
- Collaborate effectively with the production team and clients on set.
- Deliver a professional and positive experience for clients and talent.
- Work closely with editors and producers to ensure high-quality and timely production.
- Undertake additional assignments and duties as needed.
YOU WILL NEED TO BE/BRING… (QUALIFICATIONS)
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on videography experience, with the ability to work independently across a variety of project types (ex. studio shoots, corporate productions etc.)
- Education: Post-secondary in media production, film, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Production Knowledge: Strong understanding of framing, lighting, colour balance, audio recording, microphone placement, interview composition, green screen production, and troubleshooting technical production issues.
- Technical Skills: Experience operating Sony FX cameras (especially the FX30), shooting in S-Log, building three-point lighting setups, and working directly with high-resolution video files within proxy free workflows.
- Project Management Tools: Familiarity with tools such as Riverside.fm, Trello, Slack, and booking/calendar management platforms is considered an asset.
- Workflow & Collaboration: Ability to follow established production processes; communicate effectively with Producers and team members, and manage multiple shoots or projects within fast-paced production environments.
- Professionalism: Reliable, proactive, detail-oriented, and confident working directly with clients, talent, and internal teams while delivering polished, high-quality video content and a professional on-set experience.
- Creative Eye: Strong visual instincts with an eye for modern, high-end production quality and presentation.
More About the Opportunity
- Hourly rate: $25 - $35 per hour.
- Expected commitment: approximately 10-20 hours per week.
