Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician / Optical Assistant to join our dynamic optical practice. As an integral part of our team, you will assist with patient consultations, frame selections, and lens fittings while supporting daily operations to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that suits their needs and preferences, providing expert guidance on frame styles and lens options
- Take precise measurements for lens prescriptions and ensure proper fitting of eyewear
- Prepare lenses in the laboratory, including mounting and adjustments, utilizing laboratory experience and optical knowledge
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Manage retail sales transactions efficiently using POS systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare standards
- Support the optical team with inventory management, including ordering supplies and tracking stock levels
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Stay informed about the latest trends in eyewear fashion and optical technology to enhance patient recommendations
Qualifications
- Prior experience in optical settings or laboratory work is preferred; retail sales experience is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is advantageous
- Familiarity with optical equipment, lens fabrication, and fitting procedures is highly desirable
- Strong sales skills with the ability to educate customers effectively and promote products confidently
- Experience working with retail management systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- A genuine interest in providing outstanding patient care and customer service
