Staff will serve as a Program Lead/Counselor, reporting directly to the Program Director or an assigned supervisor. The Program Lead will coordinate all the organization's programming, including the outreach sites and volunteer/student supervision.
- Program Management: Plan, administer, and supervise the daily operations of specialized programs, including recreational, educational, social, and clients’ benefit navigation, and/or refer them to appropriate community resources.
- Activity Facilitation: Coordinate and conduct workshops and events both online and in person, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Operational Oversight: Maintain essential records, such as sign-up sheets, meetings, activity reports, and performance reviews, while adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Community Engagement: Foster productive partnerships with community organizations and referral agencies to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Director and management team to identify opportunities for program expansion and improvement based on emerging community trends.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be communicated from time to time.
Experience: Proven experience working with seniors and a deep familiarity with programming trends and procedures for vulnerable populations.
Education: Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and community work experience.
Safety Requirements: A valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months) and current First Aid/CPR certification.
Physical Ability: Capable of performing tasks such as setting up program rooms and lifting
materials up to 20 pounds.
Skills:
- Excellent written, oral communication and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centred practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other applicable administrative software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Food Handlers Certificate and French language proficiency are considered significant assets.
- Strong leadership, mentoring capabilities and time-management abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and crisis management.
- Knowledge of budget tracking and resource management.
