Program Description
The Pathways Program is a two-tier settlement services program designed to enable IWS to act as a
one-stop coordinating center for settlement services to newcomer clients who are resident in the city of Regina and catchment area/towns within 200km radius of Regina. The person in this position is required to use trauma-informed practice, anti-oppressive, strength-based and goal-oriented strategies to conduct comprehensive needs and assets assessments and referral services to partner and mainstream organizations. The Advisor is also required to travel to towns outside Saskatoon in order to deliver offsite/itinerant one-on-one services to clients who reside outside the city limits.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Conduct comprehensive needs and assets assessments using approved matrix, template and protocols. This process would identify client’s needs, assets, barriers, personal and career goals
- Be flexible in using a variety of delivery methods including face to face (in-office, off-site and home visits), online (zoom), and telephone (WhatsApp or phone call)
- Liaise with appropriate native language interpreter to ensure accurate and timely support for clients
- In collaboration with the client, develop strength-based, goal oriented and a personalized settlement action plan that supports the clients’ unique situation
- Identify programs and support services in the community that are deemed the best fir for the clients’ needs
- Conduct effective service referrals to ensure timely access to settlement and employment programs that enhance client outcomes
- Communicate/liaise with appropriate settlement partners for pertinent information that will enhance client outcomes
- Provide team support for all community outreach and client recruitment
- Be responsible for organizing Information & Orientation Workshops on Life in Saskatchewan
- Conduct client follow-ups, using follow-up visits, emails, zoom and phone calls, in order to determine progress status
- Document all client interactions in a narrative/qualitative format using the approved templates
- Perform extensive client activity and data entry tasks using approved forms & protocols in a timely manner
- Provide client status (interim and final) reports to the management team, which reports on emerging/unmet needs, trends/demographic factors, clients’ success stories and challenges
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all client interactions, while ensuring strict compliance with confidentiality and security standards for such information
- Perform all other duties related to the position and in furtherance of the mandate of the Organization
Required Qualifications
Education
- University Degree in the Arts/Social Science/adult education/human services or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
· Minimum 2 years of front-line service experience in the non-profit sector working with vulnerable clients in Canada.
· Minimum 1 year of working directly with newcomers in the settlement sector in Saskatoon or Regina.
Demonstrated Knowledge
- Knowledge of the following gained through work or volunteer experience: Mental Health and Illness in Canada, Trauma Informed Practice, Intersectional Feminism, Gender Based Violence, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
- Knowledge of available settlement and community resources, including specialized services for: Women, Seniors, LGBTQ+ individuals, Youth, and people with Disabilities.
Skills
- Fluency in one of the following languages is mandatory: Hindi, Arabic, Dari, Mandarin, Tigrinya
- Excellent digital literacy skills, including Microsoft Office suite and G Suite; experience using client tracking software; minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- English language proficiency: minimum overall score of CLB level 9 or IELTS 7.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, conflict resolution, assertive communication, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and handle a heavy workload.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation/collaboration internally with staff and externally with other agencies.
- Demonstration of cultural competency to work effectively and respectfully with people from different cultures and diverse backgrounds, including consideration of how social, historical contexts and imbalance of power have impacted people’s experiences.
- Assertive communication style, positive attitude, enthusiastic and upbeat/outgoing personality
Other Requirements
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check obtained in the last 6 months: Required
- Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license
- Daily access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel within 150 km of Saskatoon (either as a day trip or an overnight trip)

- Proof of Language Ability: Required if education was completed outside of Canada (IELTS, or CELPIP, or CLB-PT)

Hours of work and schedule: 35/hours per week; typically, Monday to Friday 9:00am-4:30pm. May be required to work a flexible schedule that prioritizes clients’ needs and capabilities, includes evenings and weekends as required.

Wage/Salary: $23.69
Employment Status: In scope & Term Contract
Contract Expiry Date: December 31, 2026 (Possibility of extension, depending on funding availability)
Work Location: mainly in-office but some travel is required to conduct client services
