Opportunity
The primary role of the Health & Safety Coordinator is to facilitate and manage the company’s health and safety program. The main duties of this position include supporting employees to operate in a safe and respectful work environment, contribute to establishing and maintaining a healthy and safe work culture, performing regular worksite inspections and audits, tracking incidents and analyzing trends, conducting investigations, developing safety reports, offering recommendations to management, as well as coordinating safety training and subcontractor management. This position will require some travel to a variety of work sites around the province of Saskatchewan.
Qualifications
› 3-5 years’ experience working in construction industry in a safety related role preferred
› NCSO designation (or actively working towards)
› Post-secondary education in a safety related field is preferred
› Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc)
› Experience working with electronic safety reporting systems like SiteDocs
› Good understanding of Worker’s Compensation Board
› Good understanding of Occupations Health and Safety legislation
› Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
› Highly organized with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well
› Self-driven and motivated individual
› Able to travel and overnight from time to time
Job Duties & Responsibilities
› Manage the company’s safety program
› Maintain the company’s safety incentive program
› Perform regular worksite safety inspections and conduct safety meetings
› Communicate regularly with workers, supervisors, and management regarding safety related initiatives, alerts and outcomes of incidents
› Make safety recommendations and advise management
› Conduct incident investigations as required
› Track and analyze incidents, and provide monthly and annual reports
› Develop and implement Safe Job Procedures, Practices, and Policies
› Travel to a variety of worksites across Saskatchewan regularly
› Oversee the stocking and storage of safety equipment including PPE
› Perform clerical work including scanning and filing of safety documentation
