Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1. Master educator with a minimum completed master’s degree in a relevant field. PhD preferred.
2. Strong grounding in English language arts education, literacy theory, and pedagogy at the secondary level.
Experience:
1. School-based English language arts teaching experience in secondary schools, preferably in Quebec.
2. Experience supporting teacher candidates in teacher education and/or English language arts methods course contexts.
3. Expert knowledge of:
The Québec Education Program (QEP), including competencies and curriculum expectations relevant to secondary English language arts.
Advanced pedagogical approaches for teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening, and multimodal communication in secondary English language arts.
Contemporary youth social worlds and their implications for English language arts teaching and learning.
Current research in critical literary theory, literacy theory, and critical approaches to English language arts education.
Planning, instructional, and assessment practices relevant to secondary English language arts teaching.
Equity-oriented, culturally responsive, and inclusive approaches in English language arts education.
Integration of digital technologies in English language arts teaching and learning.
Professional competency frameworks and professional repository documentation relevant to teacher education.
4. Experience supporting teacher candidates in planning, rehearsing, implementing, and reflecting on English language arts teaching practices.
5. Experience facilitating practice-based, collaborative, and discussion-based learning environments.
6. Experience connecting curriculum, research, and classroom practice in English language arts education.
Other:
1. Knowledge of the impact and experience integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
2. Familiarity using myCourses, Zoom and/or other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
3. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
4. Familiarity teaching blended classes
5. Instruction in this course may be delivered remotely if indicated as required by the university.
