About the Peace River Asset
Peace River is a stable, heavy cold-flow, growth-oriented asset. Obsidian Energy operates a contiguous and extensive acreage, with substantial resources in place, in the heart of the Peace River Oil Sands region. Obsidian Energy is pursuing an aggressive growth and development plan in the region.
The Role
Maintenance Planner / Scheduler
Full Time
Location: Peace River, Alberta
Posting Close Date: October 2, 2026
Key Responsibilities
Duties include the following, but are not limited to:
- Plan, coordinate and supervise daily activity of the maintenance trades in the assigned area;
- Ensure the effective use of all contract personnel to minimize down time and costs;
- Receive all work requests and assign tasks as required; follow up on completed work to ensure quality of workmanship and materials;
- Plan and coordinate regular scheduled preventive and corrective work;
- Plan and execute small projects while interfacing with engineering and operations and any technical resource or expertise;
- Provide guidance and support to both operations and contract maintenance to ensure regulatory requirements are met;
- Ensure that repeat problems are identified, and recommendations are made to reduce or eliminate the root cause; recommend the use of new technology when deemed advantageous;
- Participate in turnaround planning and reviews including optimization projects and MOCs;
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance history is being maintained concerning assigned equipment;
- Conduct on-site job observations, pre-job planning and site hazard assessment;
- Compile monthly and quarterly maintenance performance reports and distribute to the required stakeholders; and
- Demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, and the environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of oil and gas experience, having worked in both oil treating and gas processing facilities is an asset
- Experience in maintenance coordinating/planning in multi-discipline trades (I&E, Mechanical/Compression, General Maintenance) is an asset
- High School Diploma or GED
- Trade certification is an asset, specifically mechanical
- Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and evidence of a clean driving record; defined as no more than five demerits and no convictions or suspensions during the last three years
- Competency with computer skills and software including CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Possess initiative and good organizational skills
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
Other Conditions
- Employee or contract options are available as best suited to the candidate
- Candidate must reside within 100 kms of Peace River
- This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Obsidian Energy Alcohol and Drug Policy which includes pre-employment testing
- A background verification check including references, criminal, education, and certification (if applicable) must be completed and the results deemed satisfactory by Obsidian Energy
