Mega Rebar, an established rebar fabricator and distributor situated in Maple Ridge, BC, is actively seeking motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Owner/Operator (Long Haul Drivers). This is a permanent, full-time opportunity that offers competitive compensation and benefits. Our facility is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment.
Core Duties:
- Driving 40’ - 53’ trailers.
- Strapping and unstrapping material on the trailer.
- Pre-trip and post trip inspection.
- Maintaining accurate driving logs.
- Reporting vehicle deficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a tractor and 40'–53' trailer safely and efficiently.
- Transport and deliver rebar and related materials to customer job sites.
- Secure and unsecure loads using proper strapping techniques.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and transportation records.
- Report vehicle defects, maintenance requirements, and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Represent Mega Rebar professionally when interacting with customers and the public.
Work Conditions:
- Deliveries throughout the Lower Mainland and surrounding areas.
- Extended periods of sitting, driving, and operating equipment.
- Loading and securing materials in various weather conditions.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Valid Class 1 Driver's License.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Strong understanding of transportation safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Reliable cell phone for communication.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Tractor must meet current Port of Vancouver environmental standards.
- Experience hauling steel, construction materials, or oversized loads.
- Familiarity with over size/overweight permitting process in BC
- Experience navigating busy urban construction sites and coordination with site supervisor
