We are seeking a full-time Caregiver to assist a young adult with a developmental delay to live a full and active life. The caregiver will be required to provide one-to-one assistance the client. The caregiver will be guided by the goals and objectives determined in collaboration and consultation with the client and our family.
Job Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Client transportation.
· Encouragement of independent living skills.
· Personal care (dressing, hygiene, washroom assistance).
· Meal prep with G-Tube feeding.
· Encouragement and participation in activities, getting involved in the community.
· Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, bedding, G-Tube Feeding equipment daily).
· Supervision and companionship.
· Help the client to understand healthy relationships and develop healthy boundaries.
· Assist the client to identify places in the community where she can connect with others around a common area of interest (i.e., recreational clubs, volunteer interests, association).
· Provide support to the client to enable them to attend, participate and be part of the community group(s).
· Support on-going education.
· Facilitate the development of new relationships and friendships with like-minded peers.
· Create a recreation/fitness routine that reflects the individual’s interests while also exploring various exercise classes.
· Implement strategies to support the individual to manage anxiety and stress.
· Support the individual to stay organized with regards to post-secondary studies and homework.
· Support the individual to organize transportation in accordance with their schedule.
· Communicate any issues promptly, work with collaboratively with family, network and existing support.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· A belief and commitment to inclusion, the right for all people to belong, and participate and contribute to all areas of life.
· The ability to work independently in unstructured environments.
· Coaching skills – very organized and able to provide guidance.
· Knowledge of community resources available to support people to participate and contribute within their community.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle.
· Good communication skills-speaking and listening.
· Reliable and punctual.
· Willing to collaborate within a team dynamic with family and other supports to determine how to best support the individual.
· Strengths in critical thinking and problem solving.
· Patient, calm and flexible.
· Some weekend and overnight respite required.

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
