Role Overview
Academy of Learning Career College is seeking a Placement Coordinator to support students enrolled in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) programs.
The primary responsibility is to secure and coordinate 8-week unpaid field placements for program graduates in appropriate community settings, including long-term care homes, retirement residences, childcare centers, and related facilities.
This role requires strong community engagement skills, relationship-building with healthcare and childcare leaders, and the ability to support adult learners throughout their placement experience.
ONLY PSW with over 5 years experience, or RPN or RN should apply
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain active relationships with Directors of Care, Administrators, and HR teams at long-term care homes, retirement residences, and childcare organizations
- Identify, negotiate, and secure placement opportunities for PSW and ECA students
- Coordinate placement schedules and ensure Ministry and program compliance requirements are met
- Conduct site visits and placement supervision as required
- Provide guidance and mentorship to adult students during placements
- Track placement progress, attendance, and performance feedback
- Address placement-related challenges in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to placements and employer partnerships
- Support community outreach initiatives to expand placement networks
- Travel within the region as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Prior experience in community outreach, workforce development, healthcare education, or student placement coordination
- Existing relationships with long-term care, retirement homes, or childcare organizations considered a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work independently with a high level of diligence and accountability
- Comfortable supervising and supporting adult learners in real-world environments
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Proficiency with basic reporting tools and administrative systems
