Woofur will be holding its 8th Annual Kids & Dogs Summer Camp program over two weeks during the summer. Specifically, the camp will operate from Monday, July 13th to Friday, July 17th. Then, the camp will resume for a second week from Monday, August 10th to Friday, August 14th. This program is a fun, educational, interactive, and hands-on camp designed for kids ages 7 to 14 to learn how to be better companions to their animal friends. Open Position: Kids & Dogs Summer Camp Counselor
NOTE: This is an exclusive, temporary position, where we will be hiring ONE (1) candidate to be an assistant for the program over the two weeks during the 2026 Summer Break.
Camp Dates:
- Week 1: July 13 to July 17, 2026
- Week 2: August 10 to August 14, 2026
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with running the Kids & Dogs Summer Camp program during the two weeks,
- Assist in the handling of pets,
- Supervise and coordinate the daily schedule of activities, including before and aftercare programs,
- Mediate any conflicts that may arise between kids,
- General cleaning duties to prepare the classroom for the next day
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to candidates who are certified by the Ontario College of Teachers, but it is not a requirement
- At least 1-2 years of experience with childcare, teaching or camp counselling required
- CPR certification preferred
- Proven track record of superior organization and multi-tasking
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity
- Demonstrated skills in conflict mediation
- Must be able to work with dogs and understand basic dog body language
WORKING HOURS:
This position is temporary and is only required for the two weeks the Kids & Dogs Camp will be running during the Summer of 2026. Basic training will be provided.
Daily Start Time - 8:45 AM
Estimated End Time - 5:15 PM
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 weeks
Pay: $800.00 per week
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Woodbridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Animal handling: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers (preferred)
