Designation Scope:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Electrician/PLC Technician to support the reliable and efficient operation of our manufacturing equipment and automation systems. This role combines control system design (hardware & software), hands-on technical work, and troubleshooting support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on electrical and automation systems to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in motors, drives, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other automation components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Conduct preventative maintenance routines, inspections, and tests on manufacturing equipment. Support the installation and commissioning of new electrical and automated systems.
- Program and modify PLCs, HMIs, and related controls (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron).
- Set up and calibrate instrumentation (flow meters, level sensors, steam control valves, dairy fluid control valve sequencing, conductivity sensors).
- Read, interpret and modify P&ID’s (piping & instrumentation diagram).
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement process improvements. Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, and reports in CMMS systems.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulations, and company policies. Provide technical support and training to operators and other maintenance team members. Attend prescribed courses and training as required.
- Other duties and projects as assigned by management. Flexible to cover various shifts, as required.
Qualifications:
- Recognized Electrical Trade Qualification (e.g., Red Seal, NVQ Level 3, Journeyman Electrician).
- 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance role.
- Certificate or diploma in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or related field. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and industrial automation.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Ability to troubleshoot issues under pressure and work independently or in a team.
- Knowledge of Wonderware and Ignition is an asset
- Understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Experience with robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB) is an asset.
