Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Apiary Worker to support our beekeeping operations. This role involves maintaining bee colonies, managing hive health, and assisting with honey harvesting. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, an interest in agriculture, and the physical capability to handle demanding tasks in an outdoor farm environment.
Duties
- Assist with the inspection and maintenance of beehives to ensure colony health and productivity
- Perform routine hive management activities such as cleaning, feeding, and pest control
- Harvest honey and other hive products using appropriate tools and techniques
- Handle farm machinery related to hive maintenance and honey extraction
- Conduct heavy lifting of hive boxes, equipment, and harvested products as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the apiary site to promote a safe working environment
- Monitor bee activity and report any signs of disease or distress within colonies
- Follow safety protocols when working with bees, equipment, and farm machinery
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge is preferred for operating and maintaining farm machinery and hive equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, often handling large hive boxes or containers of honey
- Experience or familiarity with farm machinery used in apiary operations is a plus
- Physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Attention to detail for monitoring hive health and identifying potential issues
- Strong work ethic with the ability to follow safety procedures diligently
