Role Overview
The Laser Operator is an integral part of the fabrication team and is responsible for accurately and efficiently cutting procedures, including drawing specifications and documentation, in accordance with Company specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish proper set-ups for cutting and stopping locations, and adjust laser beam focal points.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate cutting
- Perform typical laser cutting operations, ensuring proper parameters are followed.· Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
- Perform all dimensional inspections.
- Plan the sequences of operations to achieve optimal precision and tolerances.
- Prepare raw materials for production and assemble final products for shipping.
- Detect and report defective materials and programmes to management.
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with set timelines.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production targets
- Adhere to all quality protocols and safety policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum high school education (OSSD) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years laser operation experience (in a sheet metal manufacturing environment would be an asset)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and initiate actions within the scope of authority
- Advanced knowledge of different types, grades, and gauges of sheet metal is an asset
- Experience setting up and operating brake press machines is an asset
- Experience with forklifts is an asset
- Experience with metric and imperial measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, etc.)
- Reading and understanding blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge and use of appropriate tools to maintain machines.
- Detail oriented.
- Address machine malfunctions in an efficient and expedited manner
- Chart machine performance and administer routine checks and maintenance.
Job Demands & Working Conditions
- Production/manufacturing environment setting, standing/walking, in addition to sitting throughout shift.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high-stress situations.
- Required to walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise and vibration levels.
- Frequent periods of mental and visual concentration during computer work and analyses.
- Required to wear PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs are required).
- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
