Westar Group of Companies is based out of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and specializes in aggregate processing, transportation, forestry and earthwork. Westar has an opportunity for a highly motivated and responsible Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its team!
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our industrial maintenance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience in manufacturing environments. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and semi's to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Candidates should have a solid understanding of schematics, industrial electrician practices, and low voltage systems. Excellent analysis skills and customer service orientation are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty equipment and machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and analysis techniques
- Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Operate and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and low voltage systems
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document work orders and maintenance activities
- Conduct welding, boiler maintenance, HVAC servicing, and other specialized tasks as needed
- Follow safety protocols related to industrial electrician work, HVAC systems, welding, and boiler operations
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance performed
- Collaborate with team members to ensure minimal downtime and efficient operations
Skills
- Extensive experience with industrial maintenance in manufacturing settings
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery and equipment
- Proficiency with schematics, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting PLCs
- Knowledge of boiler systems, HVAC units, welding techniques, and low voltage electrical systems
- Experience with CMMS software for maintenance tracking
- Ability to analyze complex problems quickly and develop effective solutions
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with internal teams or external vendors
- Basic understanding of industrial electrician practices and safety standards
- Strong communication skills in English for clear documentation and teamwork

Pay: $28.04-$55.39 per hour
