We are currently seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as Temporary Principal of F.H. Collins Secondary School.
F.H. Collins Secondary School is a large, comprehensive, dual‑track (English and French Immersion) secondary school serving a diverse learner population. The school is known for its strong academic programming, broad elective and extracurricular opportunities, and a commitment to inclusive, respectful, and learner‑centered practice. F.H. Collins values high expectations for learning, learner voice and leadership, and strong relationships among staff, learners, families, and community partners.
This position offers the opportunity to lead within a well‑established school community with a strong professional culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and learner success.
The Principal of F.H. Collins Secondary School is an instructional and organizational leader who works closely with staff to support high‑quality teaching and learning, effective school operations, and a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

End Date: June 2028, end of the 2027-2028 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Master’s degree in education, or equivalent
- Recent and successful experience in school administration, with experience at the secondary level considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, school‑wide initiatives and events that support learner achievement, engagement, and well being.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with staff, parents, School Council, and community partners to support learner success and contribute to school improvement and growth goals.

Demonstrated experience applying First Nations Principles of Learning through the integration of First Nations ways of knowing, doing, and being in classroom practice and /or across the wider school community.

Demonstrated experience coaching and supporting staff toward evidence-based instructional excellence, including providing constructive feedback, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth.

Proven leadership ability to effectively guide, motivate, and supervise staff and learners, while building and sustaining respectful, collaborative relationships with learners, parents, staff, school council, First Nations, and the wider community.

Demonstrated success in implementing inclusive education and responsive learning supports for diverse learners.

Demonstrated ability in using data-driven practices to improve learner outcomes, support each learner’s potential, and effectively meet learners where they are at in their learning journey.

Sound judgment and evidence‑based decision‑making skills, with demonstrated skills in communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem‑solving with a wide range of partners.
- Knowledge of and respect for Yukon First Nations cultures, and the ability to strengthen a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment for a diverse learner population.

Knowledge of Dual-Track Education Model (English and French Immersion) and a commitment to creating a positive bilingual school community.
