We are seeking a visionary, student‑centered School Principal who understands IB principles, leads with integrity, and cultivates a collaborative, inclusive school culture.
Position Overview
The School Principal provides strategic leadership across academics, operations, and community engagement. The ideal candidate brings strong IB understanding, instructional leadership experience, and the ability to guide teachers in delivering high‑quality, inquiry‑based learning.
Key Responsibilities IB Programme Leadership
- Uphold and promote the philosophy, standards, and practices of the International Baccalaureate.
- Support the coordination and implementation of IB frameworks across grade levels.
- Ensure alignment between Alberta curriculum outcomes and IB inquiry‑based approaches.
- Lead staff in reflective practice, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement.
Instructional Leadership
- Conduct classroom observations and provide meaningful coaching and feedback.
- Guide teachers in implementing inquiry‑based, student‑centered pedagogy.
- Use data to support student achievement and program development.
- Facilitate professional development aligned with IB and school priorities.
Leadership & School Culture
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and values‑based environment rooted in respect, empathy, and global citizenship.
- Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Promote high expectations for academic excellence and character development.
Operational & Administrative Management
- Oversee daily school operations, supervision, scheduling, and safety protocols.
- Manage staff performance, evaluations, and HR responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Education and IB requirements.
- Support budgeting, resource allocation, and long‑term planning.
Community & Family Engagement
- Communicate professionally and transparently with parents and guardians.
- Represent the school at community events, IB meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Strengthen partnerships with families to support student learning and well‑being.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (required); Master’s in Education or Leadership (preferred).
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience and 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Experience in an IB school or strong understanding of IB philosophy (required or strong asset depending on your preference).
- Knowledge of Alberta curriculum and inquiry‑based instructional practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage school operations effectively.
- Experience in independent or faith‑based schools is an asset.
- Commitment to values‑based, holistic education.
