Nutemp Mechanical Systems Ltd. is a COR certified multi-trade mechanical contractor that focuses on industrial, commercial, and institutional markets. With over 40 years of experience, Nutemp has evolved into a vertically integrated, industry-leading mechanical organization in southern Ontario.
We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join the Estimating team to join and help lead our Estimating Team. This individual will drive the preparation of accurate, competitive, and strategically developed mechanical estimates, while contributing to project acquisition, team development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
YOUR Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping scopes, including material take-offs, labour analysis, and equipment costing
- Maintain current pricing for materials, labour, equipment, suppliers, and subtrades; identify the most competitive rates
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope, identify conflicts, and coordinate RFIs
- Develop comprehensive proposals, budgets, and tender submissions; ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
- Evaluate and review estimate packages prepared by junior and intermediate estimators
- Support project handoff by preparing detailed budget files and collaborating with the Project Management team
- Follow up on submissions, analyze client feedback, and contribute to pricing strategy improvements
- Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and subtrades while expanding internal costing databases
- Participate in estimate review meetings with Senior Estimator and Management; assist in pursuit and acquisition of new projects
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the Estimating Team
YOUR Qualifications
- 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in ICI construction (HVAC, plumbing, piping).
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with MS Project, CAD, and/or Revit is an asset.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience with cost coding systems, work breakdown structures, and competitive tender methodologies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, and subtrades.
