POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Support role provides day-to-day facilities support to help SIHLRC remain clean, safe,
functional, and responsive to operational needs. This role assists with routine maintenance tasks, site
readiness, basic repairs, and coordination of maintenance requests. The position supports a respectful
environment for relatives and staff through reliable, practical service and strong teamwork.
Applicants must demonstrate clear alignment with SIHLRC’s vision, mission, values, and recovery-oriented
approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma‑informed practice, harm
reduction, and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Complete routine maintenance, minor repairs, and facility upkeep tasks across SIHLRC spaces.
2. Support inspections, preventative maintenance activities, and work order follow-up.
3. Assist with groundskeeping, seasonal setup, furniture moves, and supply handling as required.
4. Report deficiencies, hazards, and repair needs promptly to the Maintenance Manager.
5. Maintain safe work practices and proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.
6. Support room turnover, event setup, and operational readiness for daily programming.
7. Interact respectfully with relatives, staff, and contractors while maintaining professional boundaries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of facility upkeep, tools, safe work practices, and minor repair tasks.
- Ability to perform physical work safely, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to follow direction, manage tasks reliably, and support a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify maintenance concerns early.
- Respectful communication and ability to work around active program spaces.
- Ability to support day-shift and weekend-presence operational needs.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent maintenance and facilities experience.
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
