Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and delivery of HSDC's community workshops and group meetings
- Foster the community and social well-being of community members.
- Support community members with referrals to other HSDC services and community resources, ensuring they have access to the necessary care and support.
- Organize social activities and events for community members to enhance their social integration and cohesion.
- Assist clients to compile information on social, educational and other institutions
- Provide information on, and refer clients to, public or private agencies and community services for assistance
- Participate in community outreach, fundraising, program review and evaluation processes
- Participate in project related special events and manage related logistics
- Maintain and monitor information and statistics for project management and reporting
- Support with event implementation and logistics for the event activities
- Assist with coordinating youth programs
Skills/Requirements:
1. Program Coordination & Delivery
- Strong project management skills are required
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and timelines
- Experience coordinating logistics for community programs, including scheduling, materials preparation, participant tracking, etc.
- Detail oriented
2. Community Engagement & Client Support
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members
- Ability to foster inclusive, welcoming, and culturally responsive environments
- Experience supporting individuals with accessing services, resources, and referrals, including those with accessibility needs and seniors
- Knowledge of community resources, social services, and support systems is a strong asset
- Empathy, active listening, and a client-centered approach to service delivery
3. Outreach, Events & Social Programming
- Experience in supporting or organizing community events, social activities, or outreach initiatives is an asset
- Ability to assist with event logistics including setup, coordination, and on-site support
- Strong communication skills
4. Data Tracking & Reporting
- Experience in maintaining accurate records, participant data, and program statistics
- Experience with basic data tracking, reporting, or CRM/database systems
- Strong administrative skills, including documentation and file management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc)
5. Teamwork & Adaptability
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support cross-functional initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in fast-paced or community-based environments
- Ability to take initiative while also following direction
- Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend programming and events
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants.
