Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Manage the fixed asset register, including recording the capitalization of additions as per internal policy and accounting standards, and calculating depreciation.
- Manage project costs through detailed analysis and tracking.
- Track inventory purchases and prepare related month-end accruals to ensure expenses and inventory are recorded in the correct period.
- Prepare monthly inventory valuations and record COGS journal entries.
- Compute standard costing rates for materials, labor, and overhead, and calculate the standard cost of inventory.
- Perform variance analysis comparing standard vs. actual inventory costs and identify key cost drivers.
- Forecast raw material cash requirements using consumption projections, open purchase orders, and supplier payment schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and applicable accounting standards in the execution of financial processes and reporting.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against forecasts, highlighting trends and variances.
- Assist in pricing calculations and ensure accurate system updates, maintaining proper records.
- Participate in financial audits and compliance activities.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for cost efficiency, risk management, and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather data and provide analytical support.
- Assist in documenting and maintaining financial processes and procedures.
- Support senior management in ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Canadian University graduate in Finance or accounting
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and organizational and leadership skills
- 3+ years of prior experience in accounting and financial analysis, preferably in manufacturing set up.
- Good understanding of fast-paced business.
- Energetic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a sense of urgency and accountability
- Self-motivating with a positive attitude, ability to multi-task, and problem solve logically
- Great attention to detail and meticulousness to get the job done properly
- Experienced with ERP and accounting software.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel
