Position Summary
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for executing assigned warehouse tasks related to receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of products. This role involves physical handling of materials, operating material handling equipment (MMHE), and accurately completing system transactions as directed. Warehouse Associates work under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor and are expected to follow established procedures, safety requirements, and work instructions at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately from pick tickets according to specifications
- Label packages and prepare orders for shipment or delivery
- Load trailers and trucks with outgoing orders, ensuring safe and accurate packing to prevent damage in transit
- Prepare shipping documentation and labels; submit completed paperwork to the Warehouse Supervisor
- Communicate shortages, damages, discrepancies, or operational issues promptly to the Warehouse Supervisor
Inventory Support
- Maintain accurate inventory records using RF scanners (WMS) and perform cycle counts as directed
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or missing stock immediately to the Warehouse Supervisor
Equipment and Safety
- Safely operate all MMHE including forklifts, reach trucks, power walkies, WAV machines, and hand trucks when trained and authorized
- Complete pre-use circle checks on all MMHE and report deficiencies immediately
- Adhere to all health, safety, and housekeeping standards at all times
- Report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, or equipment malfunctions immediately to the Warehouse Supervisor
- Participate in all required safety training programs
General Duties
- Assist with training of new warehouse associates as assigned
- Support special projects, seasonal peak periods, and year-end inventory activities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
- Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant warehouse experience
- Minimum 1 year of warehouse, distribution centre, shipping/receiving, or inventory handling experience
- Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) on a regular basis
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to work at heights and operate elevated equipment safely when trained and authorized
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and completing documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Availability for assigned shift schedule and overtime when required
- Previous experience operating MMHE including forklifts, reach trucks, power walkies, or similar equipment
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid forklift, reach truck, order picker, WAV, or power walkie certification
- Experience using DDI, ERP systems, or other warehouse management systems
- Experience in electrical, industrial, telecommunications, or wholesale distribution environments
- Previous cycle counting and inventory control experience
- Experience training or mentoring warehouse employees
- Knowledge of transportation, shipping, and receiving documentation
Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
