HORIZON MENNONITE ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM (HMAP)
The Horizon Mennonite Alternative Program (HMAP) is a grade 7 to 12 school located in Vauxhall, Alberta. HMAP has students from Vauxhall, Hays, Enchant and farms located in the area.
HMAP has a program that offers direct instruction to students on a daily basis as well as a student directed learning program that tailors instruction toward students that also work.
Regular Educational Assistant –approx. 3 hours/week
Hours of work - Monday - 12:10 p.m. – 3:10 p.m.
Assignment includes: facilitation of a locally developed Low German Mennonite Culture course and classroom support for students throughout the school. The major focus will be Bible Studies and Low German.
The Horizon Mennonite Alternative Program (HMAP) is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can fluently speak Low German and feels comfortable in a classroom setting. The educational assistant will implement a locally developed Low German Mennonite Culture course to the Low German Mennonite students in grades 7-9 and support students in the classroom.

An Educational Assistant in Horizon School Division:-
Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.

Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.

As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuring that student dignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.

Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring student equipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attempt to leave their learning environment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting students who utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).

Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
